Our
Current Financial Situation
Samana Wasi is currently in great
need of operating and capital development funds. Specifically, we are in need of assistance in the form of donations and scholarships to assist our older children to continue their education. We also need funds to better secure our basic building infrastructure and to operate. Many of our buildings are in need of new roofs and structural upgrades. The electrical wiring in the buildings is inadequate as well as the plumbing systems. We have recently upgraded the residence of the seniors and renovated the Nina Sonqo Guest House. Our plans are to increase the living quarters capacity to accommodate a larger and wider variety of people, especially seniors. The development programs presented in our Mission and Objectives web page must also be funded. We are attempting to sell a portion of land adjacent to Samana Wasi to raise additional funds for operations. We have, through the generous assistance of individuals familiar with our work, been able to start a small network of international non-profit organizations, and are publically requesting donations through them. We do NOT receive any governmental funding in Perú, as this type of support generally restricts operations and benefits primarily only groups in the large cities. Our ongoing operating expenses (such as electricity, water, telephone, employee salaries, food, school tuitions, clothes medical care, etc.), presently amount to over US$ 5,000 (five thousand US dollars) per month. The revenues from book sales rarely cover our costs and as a result, we often incur deficits. Volunteers are few and far between who can genuine assist us with our needs. Help is thus urgently needed! Capital improvements are greatly needed in the form of basic renovation of the existing buildings and infrastructure; including the water supply, heating, lighting, food storage, kitchen, farming and building construction tools and equipment. Presently,
approximately 40 people permanently live and are cared for in Samana
Wasi. |

Samana Wasi Needs Your Help!
At Samana
Wasi, all the children receive
individual attention for their development. They go to the
public schools, practice sports and other activities like regular
children. Their spiritual and cultural education, however, is Anton's
and Regia's special
responsibility.
We practice the ancient
Andean concept of AYNI (¨mutual
assistance through reciprocity¨ in the Quechua language) and are
convinced that this is an important factor in life. In spite of
economic and infrastructure limitations this concept is
consistently practiced.
Our system has been
successfully employed for over 20 years. The
life sustaining assistance given to children and elder ones at Samana Wasi,
needs to be transmitted to the world.
Anyone wanting to learn
a unique method of rescuing needy, abandoned youth,
is welcome to come and volunteer. Here you will discover how
much you can help one's
fellow man, and how this satisfaction contributes to one´s growth
(inquire by email). There is
no
discrimination based on race, sex, religion or political preference
practiced here.
"Childhood is the cornerstone on which
the whole building of life stands.
From the seed that is sowed in
childhood, the Tree-of-Life grows.
The lovingly education which is given in
childhood, is very important.
In the process of human growth,
the right instruction and leadership
besides the influence of the surroundings,
is extremely significant". Antón Ponce de León
